Press Release

5th Annual Schools Science Conference
Wednesday 12th March 2008
Kensington Town Hall, London, 9.45am-3.30pm

Science in Health and Life

Energy, excitement and enthusiasm will be emanating from Kensington Town Hall on March 12th at the 5th Annual Schools Science Conference. Just over 400, year 10-13, students plus their teachers (60) will learn about the importance of science in health and everyday life from over 100 volunteer scientists and healthcare professionals. The students will have ample opportunities to question the volunteers about the many varied and interesting careers open to those who study science. They can ask the scientists what excites them about their jobs.

New this year is the Virtual Laboratory Tour in which students can navigate their own way through a real laboratory, meet the scientists and learn about what they do. Students will get the chance to explore the ethics behind transplantation of kidneys, livers and hearts; the good and evil applications of scientific discoveries; communications and cancer awareness; showcasing themselves; the difference between living to eat and eating to live; and much more.
